Forget Transformers. The smart money, at least when it comes to fighting robots, should be on this fall’s Real Steel. Based on the short story “Steel” by Richard Matheson, which was later adapted into a Twilight Zone episode of the same name, the story revolves around a world in which robot boxing reigns supreme. Starring Hugh Jackman as a washed-up former robot boxing controller, this flick looks set to deliver robo-punches and cyber-training montages to the max. Did we mention there are fighting robots?
For those interested in getting back to the roots of the Matheson short story, the SyFy Channel is running the original Twilight Zone episode “Steel” this Saturday at 5:30 AM. Tor Books is also putting out a new collection of Matheson stories, headed up by the original “Steel,” early this fall!
